Nissan Repair: 91 nx auto wont shift up, loose hose, fuel filter

Question
Nissan Repair: 91 nx auto wont shift up, loose hose, fuel filter
gov cap
i own a 1991 nx 1.6 automatic. has 104,000 km. i was driving home everything was working properly. i just added new fuel filter a few days prior. driving at 65km/h, i slowed down and when i went to accelerate it wouldn't gear up, just rev high. towed the car home. (it drives but stuck in gear) at home i have checked fluid levels and also added transmedic. went to check the governor valve, i think thats where the problem is located, looks like i am missing a hose. located right above governor cap. i dont know where it goes i just see where hose should connect but no loose hose. thank you very much appreciated.

Answer
Josh,

I suspect it is stuck in second gear.  Nissan forces the transmission to stay in second gear when something is wrong with the transmission.  I do not think a stuck governor is the problem.  I would find a shop and have it diagnosed.  The hose in question or place for a hose is the transmission vent.  No hose goes there unless you are driving through deep water where an extension hose would connect and be a length high enough to keep water out.
