Nissan Repair: replacing the rearview mirror, rear view mirror, rearview mirror

Hi,we have tried to glue the rear view back on in Mom's 2006 Altima with the standard rear view kit my sis bought at wal-mart.  Is there something better to use, the mirror has fallen off already in just a couple of days.  Appreciate any information that you have.

Hi Shirley -

When I replace a rear view mirror, I usually use double stick tape, and silicone.

Apply a few pieces of 3M double stick tape to 3 contact areas on the mirror. Ensure the location of the tape will touch the other side. when installed. Then select 2 or 3 more contact areas, and apply some silicone to those areas as well. Carefully install the mirror, and press into place.

The double stick tape will keep the mirror secure while the silicone cures. This will enable you to use the car immediately.
