Nissan Repair: Replacing Speakers, power window switch, nissan sentra

Question
QUESTION: Hi Calvin,
I have a very simple question.  I'm am planning on replacing the speakers in my 2001 Nissan Sentra SE.  The ones in the door are starting to give out.  I haven't taken a good look at the door panel yet and just wanted to get the heads-up on removing it.  Someone told me that it may be a two piece panel and I may have to only remove the lower part(simply removing a few screws and I'll have access).  What do you think?

Thanks,
Tim

ANSWER: Hi Tim -

Yes, on some models there are 2 pieces that interlock together. best way to check is to unsnap the bottom part of the panel and see if it comes off. If not, then you will have to remove the top part as well. This will entail removing the door open hardware, window crank or power window switch wiring (whichever one you have), and the arm rest which is held by screws. I think there are screws on the top as well. Should be all phillips.

Hope this helps -

QUESTION: Hi Calvin,

Any thoughts/ideas on removing the rear speaker grills on my car?  I was prying on them a bit but don't want to break them.  I saw some pins in the trunk but they seem to be holding wires in place.

Thanks again,
Tim

Answer
Hi Tim -

Usually the grilles snap off and then you can access the screws that hold them down. Care must be given though, as things tend to be very brittle in that area due to the sun hitting on it.

You are on the right track - good luck -
