Nissan Repair: nissan 2003 frontier, starter motor, wiper motor

Question
Starter motor won't turn.  Battery good.  Bought new starter.  still won't turn.  starter reads 12.74 on starter.
When try to start celenoid clicks.  When turn on key but don't try to start there is a clicking sound in the black box neat the wiper motor that holds the second cable coming over from the linkage.  Should it click or is it preventing
starter from engaging.  Almost feels like my power is being
drained and the starter is not getting full voltage.

Answer
Hi Andrew -

Have you checked the voltage at the solenoid wire when trying to start? If you are getting voltage there (at least 12 volts), and the solenoid is still clicking, looks like it is a defective starter.

Try feeding power to the starter directly (bypass the solenoid) and see if the starter spins in the housing. If it does not spin, or spins very weakly and slowly, then return the starter.

Hope this helps -
