Nissan Repair: Nissan Sentra 2002 GXE, nissan sentra 2002, nissan sentra

Question
i am using a nissan sentra gxe 2002 model but for some few months when driving the car and the engine gets hot then it will go off and have to wait for some few mins before i will be able to start the car again.  i took it to three different mechanics who told me it the throttle sensor, so i bought a new one but the problem was still there and i am now being told that it is not the sensor but it is the electronic control unit or electronic control module 'brain box' so i have to buy a new one. i just want to be sure before i spend i buy the ecu or ecm.

Answer
Joyce,

I would not think the computer control module could cause the car to get hot and stop the car from running.  I would be looking at asking a few more questions.  Does the car overheat?  If so, replace the thermostat and radiator cap.  Also, check the cooling fans.  If the car overheats it will cause the electronics to overheat and the car to stop.  I would also look at the mas airflow senor if the car runs rough and intermittently dies.  Email me back and let me know on the overheating.
