Nissan Repair: 2000 Nissan Maxima Door Lock, nissan maxima, putty knife

The driver's side door won't open from inside. The handle travels short and gets stuck halfway. Can I fix it myself? Do I need to take the panel off and how? Thank you!

Yes, you will need to remove the door panel. Every door is a little different with different models, however most panels snap in and snap off. Use a putty knife to catch each snap. At the top you may have some screws to undo, and also where the arm rest is.

Once inside, look for a bind or interference with the door linkage going across that is preventing the link from moving all the way. Sometimes the linkage for the lock interferes.
