Nissan Repair: 87 300ZX dash lights, pencil eraser, q tip

hello, my daughter has a 87' 300ZX 2x2 non-turbo w/ all electrical gauges. The problem started about 3 months ago w/the temp. and battery gauges dancing up and down not all the time. Now all the dash warning lights stay on except the bright lights and seat belt warning lights[they do go off appropriatly]

I would pull the instrument cluster and clean the connector and harness with a number 2 pencil eraser.  Blow off the dust and reinstall to see if the connection works.  If that does not do the trick you can use tuner cleaner on the connector but use it sparingly as it will eat the cluster.  I use a Q tip and spray it on the tip and wipe the connector.  Radio Shack has the tuner cleaner.  If that fails to correct the problem you need to look at the transformer on the back of the cluster.
