Nissan Repair: Replacing the motor mount on my Truck, pivot bolt, pan hope

Question
I have a 2000 Nissan Frontier, and I need to replace the right side motor mount.  Is there anything special I will need to do, in order to do this?  Anything to "be careful of" other than the ordinary?  I have never done this before.
thanks!

Answer
Hi Lynella -

This is not a difficult job, but if you are planning to do it yourself, be prepared to crawl all over the ground and get "down and dirty". LOL. These are general instructions:

First of all, lift the car up and place them on jackstands (at least the front of the vehicle). Next, get your jack and lift it from the transmission, taking the load off the mount. Once this is done, you can remove the pivot bolt and mounting bolts of the mount and it should come right out. Installation is the reverse of removal.

The things to be careful of, is watch for wires and cables that they do not get pinched or caught when lowering the engine to restore weight on the mount. Locate your starter and be aware not to touch those wires as well. They are all live with voltage. Disconnecting the battery would be a good practice before starting this job. You may also lift the engine from the oil pan, which would be easier, but you must have a wood block to put between the jack cradle and the car. Very important you do not damage the pan.

Hope this helps - good luck!!
