Nissan Repair: 2002 Nissan Pathfinder SES light burned out?, nissan pathfinder, gauge cluster

Question
Hi Von, I appreciate your time!
I purchased an '02 Pathfinder out of state in March of '07, brought it home and passed emissions no problem.  Two weeks ago it failed emissions (P1167).  I replaced the O2 sensor several days ago and cleared the code.  But I realized today that I've never seen my SES light come on, ever.  The emissions center will not pass me with an absent light even if no code is present.  Any advice on checking the gauge cluster for a bad bulb?  Thanks for your input!

Answer
Clay,

So, when you turn the key on there is no check engine light?  If that is the case, you will need to remove the cluster to get to the back of the unit to access the bulb.  Basically, you remove the column cover and the cover around the cluster.  Then the four screws are exposed and it is just a matter of taking them out and pulling the cluster out until you can access the harness connector.  Remove the connector by pinching the sides and pull the cluster free.  Look for the light bulb that runs the SES and replace it.
