Nissan Repair: 99 max, neutral safety switch, fuse block

Question
my max won't crank i put a new battery in it. but it still won't crank

Answer
Fred,

If the engine will not crank over you need to check a few things.  First, do the lights work?  If yes then check to see if the car will start in neutral.  The neutral safety switch could be defective and shifting from park to neutral while turning the key could get the starter power.  If not, then you probably have a defective starter.  But, before passing judgment that it is a bad starter check the fuses.  If the old battery was really low it could cause the starter circuit to overheat and blow a fuse or fuse link at the positive side of the battery terminal or the fuse block.  So, check those before purchasing a starter.
