Nissan Repair: P0400 CODE - 2000 MAXIMA, vent hole, port nick

Question
GOT A P0400 CODE - REPLACED EGR VALVE - GOT THE SAME P0400 CODE - ALSO CLEANED BLOCK PORT WITH WIRE BRUSH - IS THE VENT HOLE SMALLER THAN A HALF INCH? IN A PREVIOUS ? YOU MENTIONED USING A WIRE TO CLEAN PORT

Answer
Nick,

Sounds like you are doing it correctly.  There might be a hunk of carbon stuck in the passage.  I like to use gun cleaning brushes or a wire coat-hanger as not to get anything lost in the hole.  If it were me I would remove the EGR and clean it again and reset the light and see if that does the trick.  ALso, make sure the connector is in good repair and no wires are cut or damaged.  I have seen too many connectors that have been cooked and then you have to get another one to correct the problem.  Check it out and email me back.  But, the two things I have stated are the most common problems related to EGR.
