Nissan Repair: Check Engine Light, nissan xterra, o2 sensor

Question
2001 Nissan Xterra SE: I failed emissions because my check engine light does not light up. When you turn the key it doesn't come on either.  Also, I unplugged the O2 sensor and the light still didn't come on. The vehicle runs great and passed all other tests. What could it be?

Answer
Rachelle,

My bet is the light has burnt out on the cluster.  You will have to remove the cluster to get to the back where the light screws in.  If the light is not burnt out then I would check the power feeding it from the computer.  There might be a break in the line.  But, for my experience I would say it was the bulb.
