Nissan Repair: timing belt tension, tensioner pulley, center bolt

Question
what needs to be done in order to set the timing belt tension to spec?  is a special gauge needed to do so?

thanks for the help

Answer
Kealii,

No, the timing belt, idler tensioner pulley does this for you.  Lace the belt on and get a new idler tensioner pulley and once you have the belt where it should be and the marks lined up loosen the stop bolt where the tension from the pulley will exert pressure on the belt.  i like to help it with a screwdriver on the pulley to get the belt tight and then release the screwdriver and the tensioner does the rest.  Then tighten the adjustment bolt and the center bolt and turn the engine over two times by the crank and if everything still ines up you are done and can put the cover back on.
