Nissan Repair: 2000 Exterra stereo rejects Cd, exterra, factory stereo

Question
I have the CD and Cassete player factory stereo. The cd player is currently rejecting any cd I put in it. I read that by disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds one can reset the stereo. That worked until the next time I started the car at which point the cd was spit out by the player. Why is this happening?

Answer
Gregg,

Clarion makes the stereo units for Nissan and they have problems.  If you put money into correcting the problem it will come back at a later time.  CD players are very sensitive to vibration and the Exterra only makes it happen quicker due to the suspension.  I would replace it with an aftermarket unit or you could purchase the six disc and hook it up and keep your head unit.  Check out courtesynissan.com on-line and see if they have any deals going on the unit and the harness that plugs into the back of your unit.  Also, crutchfield has the six disc players that work with your head unit.  This is the cheaper alternative since your head unit works but the cd player is going out.  Your unit can drive the six disc that you mount under or behind the seat.
