Nissan Repair: Engine keeps dieing, pick up truck, resistor

Question
1995 Nissan Pick-Up-  Truck will start up, but dies immediatley.  Have to wait a few seconds before it will start again, but then dies.

Answer
Colleen,

Check to see that the coil is getting current when the key is in the run mode.  You could have a blown resistor for the nine volts in the circuit.  Email me back with the results.  Basically, when you start the truck you are supposed to have twelve volts to the coil and when you let the key back to run it is supposed to be nine.  If the truck immediately dies this could be the problem.  Also, have you tried to hold the throttle open a little to see if it runs?
