Nissan Repair: Nissan Sunny Estate 1993 Alarm, electric fuel pump, pin switch

Question
The car has no value but is used occasionally to take rubbish to the tip. I think the alarm drains the battery and would like to disconnect it as there is no security threat. The answer to a similar question seemed to imply you can't do this.

Thank you

Answer
The factory alarm is difficult to disable.  If you really wanted to keep it from setting you could disconnect the pin switch under the hood.  This would make the alarm think it was not ready to arm and then it would never set.  If you open the hood you can see a plunger switch that sets off the alarm if someone opens the hood when the alarm is set.  If this is disconnected the alarm should not set.  That way the alarm would not drain the battery.  Now, if you are sure it is the alarm that is draining the battery that would do it.  If not look for other things that stay running like the stereo or interior lights.  I even had one where the electric fuel pump would not turn off due to the relay being stuck closed.  So, check for that too...
