Thank you much for your advice. Two followup questions. Can you tell me what fuse controls the retracting seatbelt? Also is Alldata as good or comparable to nisssanusa.com.?  Thank you  Bob

The door was opened and the automatic shoulder harness   cable is hanging out of the track in a loop.  How can I repair this?

This is going to be time consuming and expensive.  If the cable is hanging out you will need to get a new one or one from a wrecking yard and then you will have to disassemble yours and replace it.  I would get a factory service manual as it is quite a pain to describe in detail.  nissanusa.com has downloads for $20 bucks in .pdf format.  The cheapest way out of this one is to source the assembly from a wrecking yard.

Alldata is quite good as they use many of the photographs and pictures from the factory manual.  Either would be fine for your purpose.  Second, the fuse is marked for the belt and I think it is under the hood.  It has been a few years on this one.  You could wrench the track to the back and leave it for now so you would have a seatbelt.  I have done this before to get by until I could find the parts.
