Nissan Repair: Speedometer, vehicle speed sensor, speedometer

Hey Von, I have a 97 Pathfinder LE, 3.3Liter. Occasionally my speedometer freezez in position, usually on highway. Speedo seems to reset itself on restart. What do you suggest? Any transmission probems if neglected?

The computer will have trouble reading vehicle speed if the speedometer is not working properly.  First, I would remove the speedometer cluster and clean the contacts with an eraser.  This is the part where the connector plugs into the cluster.  If you do this and it works you are done.  Speedometers usually do not go out.  If it is not this it is usually the vehicle speed sensor on the transmission.
