Nissan Repair: 2002 Nissan Maxima 350 SE wont start, nissan maxima, nissan dealership

Question
2002 Nissan Maxima 350 SE.  Car was running fine, parked in garage.  Next morning the battery was dead.  Tried to jump start with no luck.  Purchased a new battery.  Car turns over fine but makes no attempt to start.  Can you provide a list of things that could cause this problem.  We have done no troubleshooting as of yet other than charging original battery to see if it held charge.  New battery has stayed up at least 24 hours after placing on car.  Have not tried replacing any sensors as of yet.  Thanks

Answer
Scott,

You are going to be hating this but since the battery was dead all the way you could have to have the key recoded for your body control module.  I bet you have no fuel as the computer kills the fuel pump when it does not recognize the key.  Yes, the car will turn over but not fire.  No gas means a person that breaks the ignition and attempts to start the car will result in no gas.  So, check with the local Nissan dealership and see if they can recode the key for you.  It is really not the key but the computer on the car that needs to recognize your keys.
