Nissan Repair: 2000 maxima engine hesitation, engine hesitation, miss daisy

Question
My 2000 maxima drives fine if you are in town driving around like miss daisy. Go to get on the freeway  or if you try to pass someone where you need to give it some gas, and the car boggs down, sounds like it is starving for fuel.  Replaced fuel filter and fuel pump screen, fuel pump gives good pressure, pressure regulator is o.k, MAF is o.k. Coils are good as are plugs, replaced ECM!!! nothing fixed, has dealer stumped and I'm approaching 1300 dollars. Any ideas?

Answer
Bob,

If the car falls flat when you punch it on the freeway I would be looking at the MAF again to make sure it checks out ok and did you witness the fuel pressure reading on the car?  You know that they have to have a special tool that goes in between the fuel line and rail since Nissan eliminated the schrader valve on the fuel rail.  Be sure there is sufficient pressure on and off idle.  Those are the two most likely suspects.  If Nissan has already taken $1300 bucks they should let you observe their readings.  And, since you are at Nissan and they keep throwing parts at your car you should talk to nissanusa.com and ask them for assistance on the problem.
