Nissan Repair: 1994 Nissan Sentra electrical, nissan sentra, brake light switch

I have a 94 Sentra LE. Today I began to have the lights on my dashboard (Brake, battery and others which I don't recall) begin to flash on and off sparatically along with a crackeling noise while I was driving. Periodically it would stop but it continued until the lights are on all the time. The check engine light is illuminated when the key is turned on but goes off when the engine starts. I checked for any loose wires but could not see any.

If the lights on the dash are doing the flashing and you hear crackling under the dash you have a short that needs to be attended to.  if the alternator is putting out 14 plus volts and everything else works fine I would be looking at where the harness plugs into the instruments.  Lastly, look where the brake light switch hooks on the pedal.
