Hello Von Sudderth,
I have a 1999 Nissan Frontier 2WD, 2.4L that I believe the clutch is defective.  I put it in gear and the pedal is high before the truck moves in gear.  Once the truck is in gear and the clutch pedal is out, the truck bucks and the engine revs and the truck doesnt move as it should.  I have ordered a new clutch kit and I plan on doing the job this weekend.  Is there anything else that I need to do to change the clutch?  Is there adjustment on the clutch master cylinder/slave that I need to do once I install it?  Do you have any recommendations or suggestions before I start?  Any information would be greatly appreciated (installation instructions, website, or file)  Thank you in advance.

Alex,

Change the clutch and while you are at it bleed the clutch with Ford High Performance Brake Fluid.  It is DOT 3 and will make the clutch action work much better than the old fluid.  If you have a Haynes manual or a Chilton those are pretty good at the steps to remove and replace a clutch.

Von, thanks for the reply, Do I have to do anything to adjust the clutch after I replace it?  Is the clutch self-adjusting?  I looked at the manuals and they dont have the best step by step directions on them.  Also, which line do I bleed for the clutch?  Thanks again, Alex

Answer
Alex,

The clutch is hydraulic and requries on adjustment.  Some to have a anjustable shaft at the clutch release fork but yours does not.  All you have to do is put it back together the way it came apart.  But, I would bleed the system after the new clutch was installed.
