Nissan Repair: Xterra clutch, clutch pedal, loud thanks

My son just bought a 2006 Xterra Off Road 6speed manual trans. My question is , when you engage the clutch you hear a click from the switch under the dash by the pedal, I' guessing its the safety switch but should it click so loud? Thanks,and Merry Christmas to you and yours. Rich

If it is a click then it is the starter safety switch that keeps the starter from working when the clutch is out.  If it is a pop then it is the clutch pedal return spring and a spritz of WD40 will stop it.  My bet is the switch and it is normal.
