Nissan Repair: Altima Rough Idle When Cold, engine temperature, cold weather

My 98 Altima runs fine except when the weather is cold -- under 40 F. When in cold weather it starts OK then idles very rough. Cannot put it into gear (automatic) until 5 minutes or so when the engine has warmed up. One warmed up it's good to go.

Any ideas? Thanks

Check the temperature sender that feeds information to the computer on the engine temperature.  Yours is probably bad and not allowing the car to go into cold start mode.  Yes, it will start but until it warms up it idles bad and will not go in drive.
