Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Voltage indicator light flashes occassionally, buick skylark, voltage indicator

Question
We have a 1990 buick skylark. While driving, the voltage indicator light flashes occassionally, especially when braking. We thought it was loose connection wires between the battery, etc. and tightened it up and we had the battery and alternator checked and they are working. But still we get this phenomenon. What would it indicate?

Answer
hi david, the only thing that can turn the light on is alt or batt.and testing the alt, while this problem was not present, would give you an improper reading.as the alt prob works fine, but has an intermittant failure.as possibly a lazy regulator that turns light on and then reg kicks back on .my opinion you are going to need a alternator .but not to worry nothing urgent.please rate my help ty billymac
