Pontiac Repair: 2002 Grand Am TCC solenoid sensor or Speed sensor, tcc solenoid, front wheel bearing

Question
My 2002 Grand Am started messing up with the speedometer missing out and shifting funny. The test showed it was TCC solenoid sensor. Now the speedometer has stopped working completly and is not shifting at all when driven. I have read that this could be the result of a bad speed sensor and not the TCC sensor. Also the ABS light is on as well as the check engine and service engine soon lights. Unsure where to start on the repairs. Would love to avoid the most costly first. Thanks, Mary

Answer
Hi Mary:

I think you need to look at the most expensive first. and go from there. first off you need to decide if you soon to be 11 year old car is worth a major repair. As for tranmission repairs They get expensive in a hrry due to the fact that most of the repair require a trnamission removal and disassebly to fix them. A TCC issue on that tranmission is odd If it srated to have issues and something came apart in the tramission and tnat is what finally took of the speedo it's going to get costly. BUT if the speed sensor was the issue in the first place it could effect TCC operation but not set a TCC code there has to he a failure in the TCC system to make it set a code. If the speedo was the root cause it will just not allow the tcc to apply or change the upshift points. As for the ABS more tehn likley a wheel spped sensor on a front wheel bearing is the issue. the check engine light is more then likley due to transmission issue.
