Pontiac Repair: 2000 pontiac issues starting, passlock, security light

I went in a store with my grand am se running, came back out and it had died. Tried to start it and got a little fire/sputter  out of it but didn't start. Checked fuses and relays and for fire at the plugs. Would it ne fuel filter, pump, this padlock? and if its passlock  how do I reset it?

sounds like a passlock issue when you try to start it and it dies does the security light just keep flashing? if so leave the key on for 10 minutes untill the lamp either stops flashing or goes out. turn off the radio and HVAC blower so the battery doesn't die. then turn the key off. wait a minute and try to start it again. it should start and run. If not there is something else wrong. If the security lamp is not flashing or doesn't stayt on you have an issue with something else like possibly a fuel pump. good luck :-}
