Pontiac Repair: steering wheel buttons not working, clock spring, pontiac g6

Question
just recently got a transmission replaced in my 2005 pontiac g6. now for some reason none of the buttons work on the steering wheel, horn wont blow, cruise, and radio buttons wont work, and air bag warning says reset airbag, why would this happen just because transmission was replaced. thankyou

Answer
Hi Una:

my guess in the clock spring (sir coil) in the steering column is bad. the steerin rack and pinon has to be removed with a trasnmsssion repair and when it was put back together the steerin wheel must have been off a revlution or 2 and when the steerin wheel was turned all the way in one direction or the other the clock spring broke. that is the electrical connection between the bottom of the steering column and the wheel. Good luck :)
