Pontiac Repair: 97 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.8L ignition problems, crank shaft, pontiac grand prix

Question
Here recently (the past week or so) while driving back and
forth to work my car has been acting up. It will randomly
stumble like its losing fire, at the same time the dash
lights and the information center lights will flicker. Today
me and my dad checked it out starting with crank shaft
positioning sensor which didn't fix it. We had the ignition
module tested and it came back good. When the car wouldn't
start we tested injector pulse with a noid light, and
nothin. But when you wait 10mins or so it starts back up. It
sounds like the anti-theft on the car but i have no clue how
to test it. Can you help me?

Answer
Hi there:

As for the ignition issue usually with these engines a misfire issue is cause by a bad spark plug or plug wire. As for the dash light flickering that may be un related. I would check the battery cables at the batter and make sure there is no corrosion present and that they are clean and tight. As for the no start for 10 minutes depending on the year and how it was equipped it may have anti theft when the key is turned on does it have a security lamp that come on on the dash? when it wouldn't start if equipped was the lamp on and flashing If so then yes it's a security issue and the problem. Have the car scanned for codes at any of the big box auto parts stores and see what codes are stroed and go from there. good luck :)
