Pontiac Repair: Coolant Flush, radiator hose, radiator cap

Question
I was wondering what the proper way was to do a full coolant flush on a 2001 Grand Prix GT.  I'm kind of new at this so need a little start to finish instruction.  Thanks.

Answer
well the easiest way is to use a flush machine, but not everyone has one of those laying around their garage lol.  easiest way would be to buy a flush kit from your parts store, drain enough coolant out to compensate for the flush additive.  Install the additive and reinstall the radiator cap, use a pair of vice grips to clamp the line to the overflow tank shut, then run the car for about 30 minutes.  allow to cool a bit before slowly removing the cap releasing the pressure without burning yourself.  Then remove the lower radiator hose and let all the coolant out of the engine and radiatior.  reinstall the hose and refill the system with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water.  allow vehicle to run with the cap off for a good hour, giving it a chance to bleed out any air in the system.  You may also have to open a bleeder valve if equipped atop the thermostat housing.
