Pontiac Repair: Radio & Speakers OK but no sound, internal amplifier, fuse box

Question
Recently purchased a 1997 Bonneville. After unlocking radio's anti-theft system, all systems go but no sound. Receiver and speakers are hooked up properly (according to a local electronics dealer) but no sound. He said something about an "internal amplifier" that may have a separate fuse box. Any idea if such is the case? Found the main fusebox above my brake pedal, is there another? Thanks

Answer
Hey Lou:

does this have the factory radio in it? is it an sse or ssei model? if so it may have a factory amp usually a base se will not have one. If this has an after market sound system I really can't help you out. to answer your question though there is an aux fuse box on the right side of the dash under the glove box and there is a main fuse box under the hood in the center of the fire wall under a black plastic cover. did the battery go dead and you jump start it? possably if you jump started it and hooked up the cables with the ignition key on you may have spiked the radio and or amp. if all the fuses are good unhook the battery cable and touch the bare cables together after they are off the battery and then hook them up again. if your lucky maybe the radio and or am were in a logic lock due to the volatge spike.. good luck :)
