Pontiac Repair: trans. swap, olds achieva, torque converters

Question
A lady from church has a 1995 Olds.
Achieva, 2.3 quad-4,automatic with
overdrive,her trans. is broken .
( trans. line broke, most all fluid leaked out ) she has no money. I
have a 1988 pont. grand-prix 2.8v-6
automatic with overdrive, ( blown
engine )  My question is ,, will
the trans. out of my pont. fit in
her olds. . I know the electronics
in the trans. are most likely
differant, not to concerned about
haveing over-drive, three forward
gears would be fine.(and reverse)
its alot of work to swap these
transmissions, so I need to know
if thay will swap. ( bellhouing,
converter, axles,ect..) will wait
on your responce,,,thank-you

Answer
I cant really answer this because swaping parts is not what I do. I rebuild the transmissions and put them back in the car they came out of.
As far as every thing fitting, I'm not sure but I do know that the torque converters will be different and there is more to the electronics than just overdrive. Actually 4th gear would be overdrive and I'm sure you are thinking more about the converter clutch.
Did you try fixing the trans cooler line and filling it with fluid. It might still be ok.
