Pontiac Repair: pontiac grand am, crank sensor, pontiac grand am

Question
QUESTION: 1999 pontiac grand am 2.4 eng, installed timming chain kit pulled head to check for bent valves everything went back good.car ran good for 2/3 weeks came back with a skip #3and#4 plugs are soking wet with gas, smoke from exhaust with is un ignited gas ,have good spark wich everything is new, wondering about the crank/cam senors throwing a wrong signal to the computer or if so would it be this dramatic, also pulled timming cover to check the timming gears and everything is on the money

ANSWER: Hi Byron:

do you have good compression on cylinders 2/3? If so I would lean towards possably a bad coil housing assembly. The plastic housing the coils sit in go bad and the ignition coils start to cross fire or shour to ground and will not fire the plugs. It' pretty common on those cars.. Try this first swap the coils in the housing and see if the misfire switched to cylinders 1/4 If so the coil is bad. Just a quick test to see if the dead miss changes cylinders.

QUESTION: new coils and coil housing, just pulled head back off and gasket looked ok. all valves looked good and seating ,they were excessive gas in the oil proabley a quart or a little more, also back to the coils i changed back to the old coils and housing to make sure that i didn't get hold a bad one but there was no change, also i put a crank sensor on the first time i went into it a didn't preform the relearn procedure will this have caused this problem , also compression was good

Answer
nO THE RELEARN WILL NOT CAUSE THIS IT WILL ONLY EFFECT THE COMPUTERS ABILITY TO CALCULATE MISFIRES PROPERLY. YOU SAID YOU HAVE GOOD COMPRESSION? HOW ABOUT INJECTORS IF YOU LEAKING INJECTORS THEY WILL WASH DOWN THE CYLINDERS OR FOUL OUT THE PLUGS.dOES THIS BILLOW BLACK SMOKE OUT THE EXHAUST FROM AN OVERLY RICH CONDITION?
