Pontiac Repair: 1993 Pontiac Transport problems, crank shaft, pontiac transport

Question
I have taken my 1993 Pontiac transport to several shops which cannot isolate the problem.  Recently one shop told me that they think it may be the coil pack or the module behind it, but that they were not 100% sure (this is after a computer diagnostic check).   The symptoms of the problem are that when I have been traveling for about 25 miles or so on a highway and start to slowdown, the engine will cut out.  I will have to wait for about ten minutes before I can start the car up again.  one issue is that  happens infrequently, about once a week (I drive approx 500 miles each week) so it is difficult to pinpoint specific information prior too the engine cutting out.  All I know is that when it does cut out, it is right after I have been driving on a highway for more than 25 miles, then get into a situation where I am driving slower.

Answer
Hi Dave:

well it can be a buch of issues. I agree with an ignition module as a possable cause. it could be a crank shaft sensor also. if when the van dies it's like you just turned off the key and it doesn't sputter/spit/chug it's and ignition problem like a module or a sensor. if it spits and sputters and dies it's more than likely a fule issue like a fuel pump. if it has a erratic idle before it dies like at a stop light i'd look at an idle control valve. If this van has a ton of milage it could be just about anything... That engine had issues with bad ground wire connections on the engine block right under the ignition module. the best thing to do is to let the van run untill it gets hot and let it die and see what's missing as to why it stalled. eithyer spark or fuel.. Sorry I don't have a defenate answer but it sounds like your headed in the right direction. I can tell you that a coil pack is not going to be the issue.
