Pontiac Repair: 03 bonneville interior lights, amp fuse, fuse size

Question
My 03 bonneville keeps blowing fuse for the interior lights.

I have disassembled the console and checked for scuffed wires but I cannot find anything wrong.  I have incerased the fuse size up to 30A. The interior lights still do not come on but a small light near the drivers foot comes on and stays on all the time now.  Any ideas/suggestions?

Answer
Hi bruce:

fiest off NEVER up size a fuse that is a good way to start the car on fire! you are going to need a wiring diagram for the interior lamps on the car and each branch of the interior lights I'd suggest putting a small inline fuse if the main fuse is 15 amsp then all the feed's on that circuit put in a 5 amp fuse. that way you can narroe down where the short in the circuit is. Finding shorts is hard especially if it's not a dead short maning as soion as you insert the fuse it blows. if you put in inline fuses and drive the car what ever the short is from will go out and the rest of the lamps will stay on. It makes it way easier than blindly looking for a short circuit. As for the lamp on the floor being on all the time I'm not sure what to think unless you damaged the interior lamps module with to big a fuse and now it will not turn off the lamps when commanded to turn off. good luck :)
