Pontiac Repair: My pontiac keeps stalling, pontiac sunfire, 2000 pontiac sunfire

Question
Hello, I have a 2000 pontiac sunfire with a 2.2l automatic engine.  When driving, it will stall when I slow down less than 10mph to make a turn.  once back on it will idle bad.  I just purchased it and is on the dealer's warranty and has been in twice.  First they changed the fuel filter and it still ended up stalling.  They then replace some air control in the idler system.  The car works great for a while but it will then stall out again sometime later.  When releasing the gas and pressing on it again, when it is in the stalling phase, it jerks like no gas is going then picks up like gas is finally released into the system.  It works fine once it isn't used for a while, but then does the stalling again.  Any thoughts or suggestions to the problem?

Answer
Hi Jeff:
is there any one kind of driving other than turning and slowing down that will make this do it? Has any service engine light come on? Does it misfire? I would be suspicious of a bad fule pump assembly. Thay go bad in thses cars all the time especially is the filter was plugged. It can be a lot of other things. If it does it all the time then when you take it to the shop suggest someone drive it with a scan tool and see what's going on. If this is a real issue there is a thing called a vehicle data recorder. the dealer can hook it up to your car and you drive it and when the car dies you just press the button on the recorder and it will give the technician a "snap shot" of what was happening when it stalled. Any GM dealr has this tool. The tool can store "snap shot" events. Good luck :}
