Pontiac Repair: 2000 Gran Prix parking break adjustment, drum in hat, grand prix 3

Question
I replaced my breaks on my 2000 Grand Prix 3.8 6 cyl. But the parking break is not really doing its job.  It floors and it does not hold the car in place very well.  Is there an adjustment that needs to be done?

Thank you

Answer
Hi
The park brakes are "drum in hat" design.
You'll need to remove the rear wheels, calipers and rotor/drums.
You'll then see the small prak brake shoes mounted to the backing plate. There will be a small adjuster wheel.
You REALLY should use a shoe/drum measuring tool that will adjust them properly the first time.
I Hope this helps
