Pontiac Repair: hose from PCV VALVE, upper intake manifold, pontiac montana

Question
After a recent tune-up, my 2000 Pontiac Montana, it ran smooth for awhile, after that,  it began to miss again.  Upon close inspection, we discovered that the hose from the PCV valve was stuck up near the fire wall unattached.  Can you tell me where this hose should be attached.

Answer
Hi Jessica.
Umm yes it depends on the van. The PCV valve hose goes from the left valve cover (front) of the engine compartment to the top of the intake manifold. then that hose goes around to the back of the engine to a valve that is on a bracket on the right side of the engine (rear) it is for the EVAP system there is a valve there with 2 hoses on it it goes to that valve more than likely. The other choice is for an air pump system. if this van has that option there is yet another valve on the back of the engine that that would go to. That valve only has one port. You can open the hood and look at the underside of it there should be a white placard that shows the emission hose routing for that engine. It says a bunch of things on it like engine size etc. There is a picture of the engine on it it shows roughly where things should go. One thing to look out for on that engine is were the "BIG" PCV valve hose goes into the upper intake manifold there is a rubber grommet that it fits into that grommet has a tendency to dry rot and get sucked into the engine causing a vacuum leak there as well. Hope that helps you out :)
