Question
Hi Dave,

Please help me becuase I can't find the battery on our porsche 928. We inherited the thing and it was working before now the battery died. We need to at least get it started so we can have it check.

Thank you,

Rose

Answer
Hi Rose,

I've never been lucky enough to have a 928 or even see one at rest...they are usually buzzing by on the freeway...so I don't know where the battery is from personal experience.  But after some research:

I suspect the battery is hard to find because it's not in the engine compartment...to trim some weight off the front wheels.  There is likely a trap door or hidden compartment to be found after opening the hatchback.

Here are some quotes I found that lead me to this conclusion:

"Be careful in lifting the battery out - they are heavy and the box is quite a stretch. You can strain your back, spill acid on the carpet, or drag it on the carpet. You might consider protecting the carpet, and possibly climbing inside to get the battery out of the box".

"1979 Changes: Battery box integrated as part of the body, was previously mounted to gearbox. Gearbox shocks deleted".  This refers to the fact the battery box had been mounted to the transaxle...meaning its probably still right there near the rear axle.

Good luck

Dave
