Porsche Repair: heat shild, becouse, exhaust headers

Question
im fine, thank u for asking,i have looked for u ...good news too,i finaly adjusted my engine and now it runs like a mad cow..:-)
but anyway, problem with this heat shield is something that i have read on a internet site and there was wroted that becouse of the heat shield the temperature in the engine department its with 60%lower then the usuale and becouse of that the performace of the car are better...the air is little colder so better performance. dont know what to say,im little afraid  that if i will make a shiel like that and i will put it there ,then more heat will go under the car(theoreticali) right(i dont have shiel under the engine)?so i hope that nothing will get on fire..:-) ,anyway...i did a molding and its look great (better design for the engine) .Also my air filter (i have the original air filter box,but it is with a K&N original design filter) its open,i have removed the hood from the air filter box ,and now when i accelerate its making like a turbo..:-) So now the engine its sucking air from the inside of the engine department (not from that pipe that was going into the left fender) and that air its warmer then befor-right?im thinking to make a starter shield too becouse i saw that its missing ...so i think that i will do this one too and see what will happends.but i will make more resurce.also pls let me know what u think..if i was understandable..:-)
p.s:maybe it will sound stupid but, something about trying to make the engine to get cold air for fuel-air mix...why does the cars that have a/c dont use taht air also for cooling the engine department? just a idee...:-)
with regardes,

hi Dave,
i am thinking of something that i dont know if it is good or bad...that is why i want to know ur opinion if its possible.i have read on internet about some exhaust headers heat shield that r reducing my engine temperature under the hood and that the performance of my car will be better. Now,becouse i dont find something like that to buy here im thinking to make one from aluminium tin.so what do u think ?will worth or not?
thank u for ur time,

Hi, how have you been?

I like the idea of heat shields for most starters and especially their solenoids.  I most often see other shielding to keep engine or transmission heat out of the passenger compartment.

As for performance enhancements from shielding, the only thing that makes sense to me is to do what you can to keep the ambient air outside the vehicle as cool as possible while it travels into the intake manifold.  So...if the air ducting gets close to any heat source, then shielding would help.

Another option would be to spend your creative thought and sheet metal skills redesigning the air ducting itself to be as short and as straight as possible while having its opening in the freshest/coolest air possible.

Nothing of what you say is stupid.  Everything is correct, even the idea of using the A/C.  You know of course that Mercedes has routed their fuel lines into their A/C headers for a brief chance to cool the gas before it returns to the fuel tank in their 80's fuel injected cars.

All the work you do will add to performance but the question is whether you will notice the difference???  That's why manufacturer's don't cool the engine compartment...no one would notice, and the A/C would be on all the time=lower gas mileage.

The one thing you have to do is get fresh air into the engine...not air from inside the engine compartment!
