Porsche Repair: 1993 Porsche 911, clutch cable, porsche 911

Question
Hello,

My 1993 porsche 911 apparently has a problem with the clutch/transmission. It has become really hard to put on 1st gear of reverse.
Can you tell me what you think it is? Maybe it needs transmission fluid?
Thanks

Fernanda, thanks very much for the nice feedback...and especially the information on what the problem really was!  Many times I don't know which direction folks take and what they find.  Thanks again.

Fernanda,

I apologize for the tardiness of this response.  I had prepared the response and had sent it but it has been reported to me that you haven't received it.  So..here it is.

There is always a possibility that your tansmission needs some extra fluid to top it off.  However, I don't think most Porsche owners would look there first to solve this problem.  Rather than re-inventing the wheel, I'm going to suggest you read the following two articles that can be found at the Peilcan Parts website.  If you don't know about this company, you may want to look a little deeper.  I've always been impressed by the quality of the parts and the customer servoice.  Also, the site is built to hold a wealth of repair and other helpful information.  In your case there's an article on sloppy shifting, which is often caused by the very same things as hard shifting.  sloppy shifting:

Also, this following article on the clutch cable will definitely apply if you get to the point of replacing any of the clutch parts.  clutch cable: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_clutch_cable/911_clutch_cable.htm

Good luck with this and again I apologize if the delay has inconvenienced you.
