Porsche Repair: 911 Plug Wires - Replace, ac compressor, catalog section

Question
I am having difficulty replacing the plugs and the wires on my 1986 911 3.2. The right bank has the AC compressor and it seems that without removing the compressor, there is no way to route the wires. Also, getting to the rear most plugs, I cannot get a ratchet and plug socket in the hole since the body sheetmetal is so close. Is there a special pludg tool necessary to remove the plugs ?

Answer
Dave,

I haven't actually had the 'opportunity' to change a 911's set of plugs.  I guess you've found out why they've always said "it takes three men and a small boy to tune-up a 911".  You must have found the small boy task.

Here's what I'd suggest, if you haven't already done this.  Performance Products... www.performanceproducts.com/...has a catalog section devoted to tools, and about a page worth devoted to wrenches and gadgets you can tell are trying to address your problem.

I hope you find something that will help you.

Dave
