RV Repair: onan generator, circuit breakers, automatic switch

Wayne, Check the generator to see that the circuit breakers are not tripped. After that I would need to know if there is a plug that you need to plug in when you run the generator. If it has an automatic switch over (sometimes referred as a Todd Switch) then I would have to say that this would be where the trouble lies as long as the generator is putting out the power. You can see for yourself what sort of system you have. Just follow the shore cord as far as you can and you should run into a junction box that has wires going in as well as out. This will be the switch over and if you open it up you can check to see if the generator power is getting there. If it is and it is not getting out then it will need to be replaced. If you don't locate this box then you should see a receptacle that you will need to plug the shore cord into. I hope this helps. Thanks, Bill
