RV Repair: Kit Companion references?, 12 volt lights, volt system

Question
HI.  I recently bought a 1969 Kit Companion 13' travel trailer.  It needs some repairs (outside patching, 12v interior wiring, some woodwork).  There were no manuals, and the prior owner didn't know much about it.  I can't find anything on the Web.  Do you have suggestions about where to find materials on this trailer?  I especially want to make sure I understand the furnace, and want to get some 12v interior lighting, along with 120v ac outlets.  I can do electrical work in general, just never worked in a trailer before.  Thanks.

Answer
I don't know where there is any information on that old of a coach. In fact I am not even sure that they had 12 volt lights in that old of a coach. The furnace will be able to find as long as you know the manufacture and the model number. Any R.V. shop should be able to assist you in that. As for putting in lighting, without pulling exterior or interior panels you would have to run surface mounted wires. You will need a converter and or batteries and wire them in where you want. The 110 vac plugs will need a circuit panel to supply and about the same procedure as with the 12 volt system. If you would explain in better detail just what you are wanting to do as far as where and how many you want to install and just what there is present in the coach I might be able to go into better detail. Just remember that even with 12 volt you need to separate circuits and fuse them for the rated wire that is installed.
