RV Repair: Delamination, lag bolts, interior wall

Question
Hi Dave.  Thanks very much for the reply.  I am not sure how to remove the interior wall panel without damaging it.  Is there a special method?  I don't know if it is glued or how it is held in place.  I am a novice so I have a bit of fear in pulling on the panel without some idea of what I am doing.  Can you give me some advice?  Thanks again.

Hi Dave.  I have a figerglass RV with some delamination.  Recently my base (lower) support for the awning pulled out.  The long screws look rusty and there is delamination around the area.  I need to get the awning support secure.  I am concerned that new bolts will not work if the wood is rotted behind the wall.  How do you sugggest I repair this?  Thanks

It's hard for me to say without actually seeing the problem. But it sounds as if you are going to have to remove a piece of paneling on the inside of the unit, and put a new block of wood there to screw to. Better yet would be something metal. Don't use lag bolts, as they could pull out again. Use bolts with washers. Better check your other awning arm while you're at it.

Answer
You may not be able to save the panel. It could possibly be glued, in which case you won't be able to save it. Try to remove any nails or staples that are visible, then slowly try to remove the panel. It all depends on how much glue they used when installing it.
If you have to ruin it, then you should be able to find a suitable replacement at a home center (Lowes, Home Depot).
Let me know how it goes and if you have any more questions.
