RV Repair: Hot Water Pressure, water tap, restricted flow

Question
2001 Trail-lite  When we open a hot water tap, it will have full pressure for a couple of seconds, then drop to a small stream. If the hot water tap is the only one open, it will be hot, but with the cold tap open, there is not enought hot water being delivered to change the temperature. Any ideas? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Doug:
Obviously there is a retriction somewhere in the hot water line. First place to check is in the back of the water heater to make sure the bypass valves are fully open. Second place is at the faucet itself. Pull the hot water line off and see what the flow looks like when you turn on the pump. If all the hot water faucets show the restricted flow then it is probably not the faucets. If all that is ok there is restriction in the line somewhere, it can be anywhere and difficult to find but you have to find it to make it work. Start taking lines apart and check for flow. The restriction will most likely be at a connection where things can get stuck. Good luck.
