Question
I HAVE A PROWLER CAMPER TRAILER AND IT HAS THE RUBBER ROOF ON IT HOW DO I COPLETLEY CHANGE THE ROOF ON IT. THIS IS A 1991 TRAILER AND THE ROOF LEAKS COMPLETLEY.

Answer
First of all, have you tried resealing all of the vents, skylights, etc? If the rubber roof it self is definately bad, here are the steps to change it. You can also overlay the old one.
1)Remove all trim (guttering, awning rail, etc) and vents on and around the top of your trailer.
2)Scrape off the old roof. You should be able to have someone pull on it while another person uses a scraper, working from one end to the other.
3)Make sure the surface is completely free of all bumps, staples, or anything that could cause a hole.
4) Apply roof glue with a paint roller on a long handle.
5) Carefully roll out the new roof, making sure it is centered so that you have enough hanging over the edges and the back and front. Try to keep as many wrinkles out of it as possible. A few wrinkles won't hurt anything.
6) Cut out the vent holes with a utility knife.
7) Reinstall the trim and vents, etc.
8) Cut off the excess with a utility knife.
That's all there is to it. Let me know if you have more questions.
