RV Repair: Electrical, volt charger, charger work

Question
Bill,
This might sound trivial but I need to rewire my battery charger and there is one wire I can not figure out where to attach it. Now this is a charger that is not for an RV but for a wheel chair but is same principle as an auto battery charger.
What happened is the coax got caught and wrapped in the wheel and pulled out. I have taken the cover off the charger and there is a plug where a connector goes for the positive wire. (don't have the replacement connector) would it be possible to just attach the wire to the plug by threading it through the hole on the plug? My other problem is there is no marked attach point for the negative wire. Can it be connected to a screw or something like you would with a neg wire in a car?
I appreciate any help you can give me as I do need to get this charged and have no one here to send to get the proper clip if I get even a partial charge then I can go get it and fix it properly. BTW this is for a 24 volt/8 amp dual mode automatic battery charger made by Lester electronics.

Thank you
Karen

Answer
Hi Karen:
I think you are much better off getting a regular battery charger. I know it seems like a waste but the end result will be a lot less trouble. For one thing your vehicle is probably 12 volt and making a 24 volt charger work will be trouble. The negative wire can go anywhere on the vehicle frame as long as the battery negative goes to the frame also, that usually is the case. You could connect it directly to the battery negative. You could probably make the 24 volt work by seriesing another battery but the trouble will not be worth it. If you make a mistake you might 24 volt a buch of 12 volt stuff and ruin them, the cost would be much higher than a battery charger.
