RV Repair: RV window repair, butyl tape, rv window

Question
I have a leak around the window, it's 3ft X 4 ft. What size butyl tape should I use?

Answer
The wider the better, try to get 1 inche wide if you can.  If you have a metal sided rv you will want to double the butyl to seal along the metal profile.  If your unit is a fiberglass sided unit don't double it, when finished apply a bead of good exterior caulking along the top edge.
