RV Repair: electrical - clicking in the breaker box, power antenna, dodge van

Question
Hi Gerald, hoping you can help. I have a 78 Chinook Futura mini on a Dodge van chassis. It's "new to me." When power (either 110 or 12v from the new house batt.) gets to the "house" fuse/breaker box, there's a small chrome 2-posted breaker in the bottom section of this power center (a B-W series 2600 with charger) that clicks once (the lights dim) then again (lights come back up). This will repeat until I disconnect. It sounds as if something's trying to kick on, but can't. I've tried individual fuses & breakers, there's no difference whether the battery is disconnected, I'm at a loss.

A few details: the fridge is gas/110 only and works fine. There is no furnace (disconnected & removed by previous owner). Nothing like a TV or power antenna or anything like that either.

The bottom compartment of the power center has a transformer and some sort of coil among other things - is this the charger section and, if that's where the problem is, can I disconnect it without damaging the rest of the converter/power center? How? The RV will be driven a lot once I get it sorted out & won't even need this feature when plugged in, if it's not a simple fix.

Thank you so much for your time!

Answer
It sounds as though your charger has a short, you can email or call Technical Services  Mike Headding 1-800-552-8886 mikeh@chinookrv.com  and request a schematic to that unit, if they dont have one they will most likely point you in the right direction to get one. In the meantime I will look for one as well. Once you get that you can disconnect the charger and see if the problem is there. You can also check the amp pull on that breaker by putting a meter in line on that breaker.
